About My Work

I intentionally make work that I’m personally drawn to, whether through a colorful palette or unique, playful forms. Each item you see here is designed with my long-term goal of creating sculptural pieces in mind, namely alebrijes. With the pieces you see here, I am working to both develop and showcase the skills I’ve obtained over the last four years of working with glass. These objects each help me refine a different technique that supports my future sculptural goals. My flowers, which are some of my favorite pieces to create, allow me to practice and play with both color and form. I strive to develop a distinctive style with my work and create something different while still offering the functionality many seek. I don’t want to make something that could simply sit on a generic store shelf. I’m committed to continuing to experiment, learn new techniques, and expand my portfolio. I’m open to collaborating on a wide range of ideas and creative projects.

About Me

When I first discovered glass during my final semester of a forensic anthropology degree, I immediately knew that I had to put my future plans on hold. After graduating with my original degree, I did everything in my power to pursue a future of creating with glass. I spent a year and a half re-taking the same single glass course that was offered through my university, with no intention of obtaining a formal degree. When I wasn’t working one of my three jobs, I spent every waking hour in the university studio space, learning and practicing as much as I could. My focus was broad; I wanted to learn as much as possible about any form of glass making I could get my hands on. Over time, hot sculpting became my top priority and the focus of my work. Through the long process of learning to sculpt, I was able to learn so much about who I am and who I want to become. Even today, every piece teaches me something new, either about myself or about the process. I know that even if I spend the rest of my life (which I plan to!) working with molten glass, there will always be more to learn. This website, as well as all the work you see on it, is the first step towards fulfilling my dream of becoming an independent glass maker.
